This summer, three 4-H Healthy Living Ambassadors were finalists in a national contest aimed at highlighting the teen’s work with Tucson Village Farm.
Their award winning video can be viewed here:
The teens were awarded $1,000 and told they could do whatever they wished with their prize money. New phone? Some back to school clothes? Not for these teens. They put their money where their passion lies.
On September 28, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., the teens will be hosting a FREE, all-day health and wellness training at Tucson Village Farm for youth ages 12-18. The event, planned and facilitated by the trio, will focus on all aspects of healthy living including mental health, physical health, self-care, and building healthy communities. When asked about why the teens decided to use their prize winnings in this fashion one said, “we just want more teens to learn how to be healthier.” Although this event is free, thanks to the monetary prize, registration is required. You can download the training flyer here and interested teens can register by texting @d2d666 to 81010.
