Year 1 of the FARMacy program wrapped up in style with a Family Iron Chef Competition featuring fresh produce from the farm! Six families from El Rio Health Center “competed” for the healthiest, best tasting and most beautifully presented entrée. Fortunately, the judges had enough categories to choose from that everyone walked away a winner and we all enjoyed a lovely sit-down meal together.
The FARMacy program is funded by the Haury Foundation and is a partnership between Tucson Village Farm, UA’s College of Medicine, and El Rio Health Centers. This prevention program is designed to facilitate the connection between health and nutrition within families through hands-on farm-to-fork nutrition education, culinary programming, gardening tips, physical activity and healthy living coaching.
