This Homeschool program begins with a visit to our new goats, where students have the opportunity to meet and learn about our new farm friends. From there, participants head into the garden alongside Farmer Alex and the TVF Farm Crew to discover what it truly takes to grow food. Students engage in meaningful farm work such as laying compost, tilling, planting, and spacing, gaining a start-to-finish understanding of how a garden bed comes to life.
The experience includes a “snacking farm tour,” where participants taste what is in season and learn about what is currently being grown and harvested at the farm. Fresh vegetables gathered during the morning are then brought into the kitchen, where students prepare personal-sized farm pizzas topped with house-made farm sauce, cheese, and their own harvested produce.
Homeschool farm days offer a dynamic blend of agriculture, nutrition, teamwork, and hands-on learning, all rooted in Tucson Village Farm’s mission of growing healthy kids, healthy families, and a healthy community.
