The “Gates of Lodore” are a scenic geological formation that symbolizes an entry way into the Green River, flowing through Dinosaur National Monument. Our adventure begins at the Denver Airport, where the GOALS (Get Outside and Learn Something) team will pick us up and drive us to Dinosaur National Monument. There we will meet our guides and get river ready. We will launch the next morning from the campground, starting our epic 5 day float through Colorado’s stunning landscapes. Youth will paddle through exciting rapids, hike to stunning viewpoints, and participate in conservation efforts. The last river day consists of unloading the boats at Split Canyon Boat Ramp and driving to our last camp in Loma, Colorado. We will then travel back to Denver the next day to depart from the Denver Airport. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience one of the most beautiful river canyons in the West!
If you are not flying in, youth should be dropped off and picked up at the Denver Airport. For safety purposes, the exact location of camper pick up and drop off will be released once your camper is fully registered.
Youth are to fly into Denver International Airport (DEN). Flight reimbursements are available up to $200 upon request.
You are welcome to bring your own river clothing and sun protection. All camping gear is included—just bring yourself, a good hat, sunscreen, and your adventurous spirit!
Your camper does not need to have prior camping experience, nor river rafting experience. This is, however, an adventure. There will be no showers, no real beds, no proper bathroom, and a whole lot of sand.
Campers are provided a sleeping pad and a sleeping bag. We spend most nights sleeping under the stars. Tents are available in the case of heavy rain, but are rarely used.
On the river, we use what we call the “groover system”. The “groover” is a box that holds all solid human waste. All liquid waste will be disposed of into the river. It’s a lot scarier than it sounds, and it becomes a highlight for many youth.
Our meals will be prepared by our GOALS guides. They can accommodate most allergies and everything is always delicious!
